Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Clathra collects when you visit clathra.com or get in touch, and how we handle it.
Who we are
Clathra is a marketing agency working with the shipping, maritime and offshore industries. Clathra is the data controller for information collected through this site. For any question about this policy or your information, email contact@clathra.com.
Information we collect
We keep data collection to a minimum.
- Information you give us. When you submit the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you provide.
- Information collected automatically. We use Google Analytics to measure site usage, such as pages viewed, approximate region and device type. Where consent is required and not given, this is limited to anonymous, aggregated measurement with no cookies and no identifier. Our host (GitHub Pages) may also record standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, to deliver and secure the site.
How we use it
- To read and respond to enquiries you send us.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used and improve it.
We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across the web.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used. We run it through Google Consent Mode, which adjusts what is collected based on your choice:
- In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, no analytics cookies or identifiers are stored unless you accept. Before you choose – and if you decline – Google receives only anonymous, aggregated signals, with no cookies and no identifier, used to estimate overall usage. If you accept, a small number of first-party Google Analytics cookies are set.
- Elsewhere, analytics is enabled by default. You can opt out at any time using the Cookies link in the footer.
- We honour the Global Privacy Control browser signal as an opt-out, so no cookies are set for browsers that send it.
To decide whether to ask for consent, we check your approximate country through a third-party lookup; this does not set a cookie. You can change your choice, or clear cookies in your browser, at any time, and the site works exactly the same. We do not use this data for advertising and we do not track you across other websites.
Services we rely on
A few third parties help us run the site. Each handles data under its own privacy terms:
- Formspree delivers contact-form submissions to us.
- Google Analytics measures site usage (only with consent in the EU, EEA and UK).
- GitHub Pages hosts the website.
Legal basis (EU and UK)
If you are in the EU or UK, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR:
- Your consent, for Google Analytics cookies where consent is required. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Our legitimate interest in reading and responding to enquiries you choose to send us, in keeping the website secure and working, and in understanding overall site usage through anonymous, aggregated measurement that does not identify you or set cookies.
International transfers
Some providers we use (Google and Formspree) are based in the United States, so data may be processed there. These transfers are covered by the safeguards in each provider's terms, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry emails for as long as we need them to respond and maintain our records, then remove them. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable form. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email contact@clathra.com and we will help, at no cost.
If you are in the EU or UK and you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
